The Beebes

Bon dia dushiis.

It feels like Curacao -- 90s and humid the last few days and the pool is like the bathtub --- well at least the pool has the basketball hoop Anna got for her birthday.

Party ends on Monday as school starts across the country and everyone returns to the city. No more just walking into a good restaurant for dinner, or remise/cabs lined up waiting for fares.

Anna's birthday was yesterday and was celebrated at her favorite American-style feed stop -- Kansas. But the big event was Friday night with 10 of her friends on a sleepover, well maybe just an over.  It sounded like an F-15 on take-off for most of the night. We set up the projector and DVD player outside for that drive-in movie feel. Hard to believe nanny is 13.

Not sure summer is winding down, although we had some wonderful sunny days in the 70s, and the parrots are all traveling in big noisy bunches now. The sunrises over the river have been beautiful and we get to see them since La Presidenta decreed an additional setback of one hour when we were up in the states.

Ann Frodel was wondering why her flight was an hour longer than when she first booked it. Anna and Ed Frodel are down here, but after the first day or two here at Casa Beebe they took a piso downtown near their Spanish and tango schools. Met them at a milonga--tango bar last Saturday, and they are hanging in there. Their third week is up on Saturday, and they will spend several weeks flying about Argentina hitting the glaciers, Iguassu falls. wine country etc. They are really nice people and as a result they have nice interactions with the folks down here.

Ed and I have the same issue--we start off knowing the first few words and then answer "si" to everything else. Sometimes we get more than we bargain for, but unless you are really a piss-ant most people give us the benefit of the doubt.

Dinner time -- oh, our maid Ozete is off for the next week so keep us in your prayers. It is so hard to do what used to be the old drill of cleaning, cooking etc. I think I have enough Spiderman underoos to get by until she is back.

All our love.
