Away
From Home ...

Well,
it's back to Buenos Aires time, and with it hitting mid
80s and sunny, I am having a hard time seeing the laptop
screen out by the pool, so excuse my worse-than-normal
typing. Hah!
The
holidays started with the usual surprise Christmas cards
from my cousin Steph, the Christensens, and on our
return, the Holbrooks. Not a surprise that people
send them, but a surprise that they actually make it
here. The last leg of the trip is a flip over our
front wall that the postal guy performs because they
won't fit in our mail slot. This year there was no
rain on those days, so we didn't have to dry them out
with hair dryers before reading.
The trip
north was, for me, dominated by the nose job and my good
friend Percoset. I still have a big nose, so I
needed lots of Percocet. Everything went well, but
I am still vague on much of the trip.
As
always, we are back with a mixture of relief to be in
one place and regret as we miss you all very much.
Nick, Wendy, and Jessie Jewett arrive tomorrow and we
head up near Bolivia for 10 days, so we will manage.
Weather
here is hot and moderately humid. It will slowly
rise into the 90s by the end of the week, until the day
when thunderstorms hit -- it then goes back down to the
70s and starts the cycle all over.
Traffic
and restaurants are not very busy, as most folks who can
afford it are out at the beach or up in the mountains
for January vacation -- the school summer vacation.
Our two favorite cave/bakeries are closed until 1/31, as
well as one of our fruiterias and many small shops.
Things won't get busy until the 2nd week of Feb., when
the schools go back into session for the beginning of
their school year. It was nice zipping home from
the airport in 40 minutes yesterday, instead of the
hour-and-a-half normal stop-and-go.
Otherwise all is moderately well and the pool water is
just the right temp so, if you are in the neighborhood,
just stop by.
Ciao,
Keith
