Many
Stories, One Community
Our
service on September 25 and the potluck and
conversations that followed were hugely successful.
The
first thing that must be said is THANK YOU! to Carol Ann
Norton for creating a space, preparing, cleaning and all
the "behind the scenes" stuff that made the event work.
Thanks also to Royal for barbecuing and
to all of you who jumped in to help it move smoothly.
Special thanks to Sue Mangold for our
beautiful new banner, and, of course, thanks to all for
the great food.
It
appears that this event tapped a deep desire in this
community.
In
our planning we figured that if 20 folks stayed around
for the Conversation Café after lunch that we would be
successful; we counted more than 60!
And the conversations around the table
were both personal and thoughtful.
The question now is "what next?" How can
we carry the energy of this event forward to fashion a
more inclusive community that rejoices in its
differences?

Several ideas have already emerged:
-
A
monthly speaker's forum with potluck
-
Regular
services and events together
-
Sharing of event information among our groups

-
Peace Trees Suquamish
-
A
Chamber of Life (not just Commerce)
-
And
certainly others I can't recall
We
are building something new, not just a faith community,
not just a service community, but something that brings
both together in a deeper way. Your participation is
needed. Please let me know if you would like to be part
of moving this community forward.
