Cindy Cure

Hear that lovely soprano solo floating
over the choir? That's Cindy Cure. After listening to
her wonderful voice, I'm sure you would like to know
more about her.
Cindy was born in Martinsville, Indiana,
where she attended both elementary and high school. She
went to Purdue University where she studied education
and French.
She moved to Connecticut where she met
her ex-husband. Cindy has three children, Sara 25
years, Joshua 22 years and Caleb 19 years.
Before the children however, Cindy and
her husband took a dream trip to Mexico. For 21/2
months, they traveled by bicycle, making 30-40 miles a
day. Cindy reported that they met many warm-hearted
friendly people who fed them and often offered them a
bed for the night. A large city newspaper in
Guadalajara published pictures of them on the front
page. An American couple traveling by bicycle was
rather unusual.
Cindy started singing in church when she
was eleven years old at the Disciples of Christ Church
that her great grandmother and grandmother attended.
Later she took voice lessons at Indiana University and
studied with many private voice teachers.
In 1992, Cindy joined this church. She
served as head of adult enrichment, and she and Fran
Markham started an adult Sunday School class that met
during the first service. She was the financial
secretary for two years and has taught classes on
communication between men and women.
Cindy now owns her own landscaping
business, "Cindy's Solutions," and does substitute
teaching. She prefers teaching high school students.
She sings with a group called the
"Rainbow Quartet" even though the group might consist of
anywhere from 4 to 7 people. Recently, the "Quartet"
sang at the Unitarian Church in Port Townsend, and they
often provide great music for services at our church.
We hope Cindy will share her music with us for a long
time.
