Life/Death Planning
Presentation and Potluck
Friday, September 16
6 pm Potluck
7 pm Living Wills Program
The unhappy example of the
Terri Shaivo family has made us understand
how important it is for us to let our wishes
be known on the subject of what to do if we
are incapacitated, in a legal way as well as
personal ways.
Please bring a dish to share,
and Church member and attorney John Peterson
will be available to answer questions
regarding Living Wills, Advance Directives,
and other ways to plan for the unthinkable.
We’ll have dinner and talk
about how we can protect ourselves and our
loved ones from the added pain of not being
sure of what our wishes are, should we
become ill and unable to communicate.

Aging.... A fact of Life
How can
we continue to grow while aging? And how can we deal
with all the changes in our bodies and life circumstance
as we age?
The
Called to Care Team, at the urging of the Pastor and
with the approval of the Deaconate, will be exploring
the issue of aging this autumn.
When you
think about it, we are all aging and have been since we
were born. There are some situations that arise as we
grow into each phase of life that are difficult,
challenging, and rewarding. Our goal as a spiritual
organization is to help everyone stay alive, not just in
their bodies, but also in their whole selves.
How can
we continue to grow or move toward maturity while
aging, when we have lost some of the faculties which we
have depended upon until now?
We hope
those who have done some aging will be willing to share
their experiences with the rest of us.
Do you have an issue related to aging
which you’d like to write about, discuss, teach or
study?
If so, please contact the Old and Still Growing
committee. (Church Office 598-4434).
