More Bits & Pieces

Jeaneane Hill with some of the 2,000 rainbow hearts and crossesRainbow Hearts & Crosses…

...reaching out to support our brothers and sisters on their journey for justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) folks...

Jeaneane Hill, who is a member of Soulforce, along with a team of other volunteers from our church hand-painted rainbows on two thousand hearts and crosses with rainbows in support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and their important upcoming vote about their own LGBT clergy.

Jeaneane, who created the pottery hearts and crosses, has distributed them for many years as her signature outreach to bring attention to the support of LGBT folks.

She personally carried the Rainbow Hearts and Crosses to Orlando, Florida, in response to a request from goodsoil.org, the umbrella of the LGBT community in the Lutheran Conference.  Goodsoil.org is the official website of the collaboration to overcome the policy and practice of discrimination within the ELCA against LGBT clergy, same-sex marriages, and covenanted relationships.

Last month, the United Church of Christ Synod officially voted to support gay marriage.  The church has already ordained LGBT clergy.  The ELCA does not currently endorse LGBT clergy unless they are celibate.

God IS still speaking.... Come, Listen, go serve.
