Hospitality

by Charlene Snyder

“Hospitality” means primarily the creation of a free space where the stranger can enter and become a friend.  Hospitality is not to change people but to offer them space where change can take place.”

              --H. Nouwen

What does hospitality mean to you?

According to Webster:  "Hospitality is the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers."

The Thesaurus offers:  "Friendliness, hospitableness, warm reception, welcome, helpfulness, neighborliness, warmth, kindness, congeniality, geniality, cordiality, courtesy, amenability, entertainment, catering, food."

So how do we at Suquamish UCC measure up??
