The
Budget
by

Blah, blah, blah… I suspect we all may
be a little sick about hearing about the budget and
budget shortfalls.
As a trustee I see the budget summaries
every month. The nutshell view of our church budget is
that we are running well behind income expectations,
while our outgoing expenses are right on track. Through
April, we are $13,000 behind our projected income. Last
year we ran a budget deficit of less than $15,000 for
the entire year. Income shortfalls are paid from our
reserves, but we are running low on unrestricted
reserves.
What can we do?
Keep up our pledges, or catch up if you
have fallen behind.
Perhaps even more important is to let
people know about our church, and invite them to join
you in Suquamish. Just ten to twenty more regular
churchgoers would make a big difference in our financial
picture. When we have new people join us, make sure
they feel welcome and that we are available to answer
questions.
You can display a Suquamish UCC bumper
sticker. We’ve had people try our church just because
they spotted one of our bumper stickers.
You can support our fund-raising efforts,
or perhaps even stage a fund-raiser.
You can volunteer to help around church
for something we might normally pay to have done.
Together I believe we can bring our
budget back in line without extraordinary steps.
