We are called
to be a caring people. God has placed the
earth and its creatures in our hands not to use and
destroy, but to respect, honor, and care for, as we would a a great Artist's masterpiece.
We strive to
carry out our commitment to care for God's creation
through:
- Worship
services
-
Education
- Church
operation
-
Community outreach
-
Interfaith outreach
We are in
covenant with
Earth Ministry to know God more fully through
deepening relationships with God's creation.
We thoughtfully strive to make our congregation a
care-for-creation model for ourselves, our families,
and our community.
We have
converted many of our lights to energy-saving
compact-fluorescent bulbs, and we recycle office
paper. The coffee that we serve is organic,
shade-grown, fair-trade coffee from
Grounds
for Change. We have a worm bin in our
backyard, full of hungry worms ready to turn fruit
and vegetable scraps into great compost!
In addition
to our Earth Ministry colleagues, others sharing our
mission of stewardship for the earth include the
National Religious
Partnership for the Environment, the
National
Council of Churches' Eco-Justice Program, and --
locally --
Stillwaters Environmental Center, the Great
Peninsula Conservancy, and
Kitsap
